The Arai Laboratory conducts research on proteins from the perspectives of both structural biology and protein engineering.In the field of structural biology, we analyze the three-dimensional structure of proteins using techniques such as X-ray crystallography, small-angle X-ray scattering, and cryo-electron microscopy. Our goal is to understand the biological functions of proteins at the molecular and atomic levels. In the field of protein engineering, we use genetic engineering techniques to design and develop modified proteins, fusion proteins, and novel artificial proteins. Our aim is to create useful artificial proteins that can be applied in industries and pharmaceuticals in the future.
